Quick Start

If this is your first time using this project and you have no prior experience with EasyTier tools, this section will help you get started quickly and set up your virtual network with ease.

  • After opening the application, you will see the main interface. Click the sidebar to navigate to the “Network Config” page, then click the “Add Network” button in the bottom-left corner to create a new network configuration.
  • To create a network, enter the username (optional; defaults to the hostname), network name, password, and other basic information in the network configuration window. You may also modify the server address. Devices sharing the same network name, password, and a common node (server) can form a virtual network.

Add Network Step 1

  • Server Address: The official EasyTier public server address is pre-configured by default. You can use it directly or add other server addresses — multiple servers are supported. Additionally, the software includes a built-in public server address list for one-click addition.
  • The server address format is generally: protocol://address:port, as shown in the default official server. The protocol is typically tcp or udp.
  • For more information about servers, see the Server Guide.

Add Server Address

  • After that, you can click the “Run Network” button to start the network connection. The running status window will display the list of nodes that have joined the network.

Node List Status

  • If errors occur, check the running log window for troubleshooting and resolution.
  • QtEasyTier also allows you to create multiple network configurations. Each configuration can run independently without interfering with others. Once you learn more about EasyTier, you can customize network configurations on the advanced settings page to achieve more functionality.
  • If your network configuration needs to stay online long-term, it is recommended to enable auto-start in the settings page and turn on auto-connect so the network joins automatically after boot.

Auto-Start Settings

In the current version, “Auto-run networks not exited last time” has been renamed to “Auto-Reconnect.”

  • After enabling auto-reconnect, QtEasyTier will attempt to automatically connect to saved network configurations before the UI page launches. This process may take some time — please be patient. Additionally, when auto-start is enabled, QtEasyTier runs in the background. Find the QtEasyTier icon in the system tray, right-click and select “Show Main Window” to view the running status.
